"Stories come in all different colors, non confirming to cis-normative standards, and creativity morphs reality and dreams, and dreams are the pioneers of success." --- Arielle Weekly

Editing is one of the most important steps that finalize a writer's work. To be presented professionally, it's recommended to have your work or project looked over thoroughly by an editor before submitting it for publication, or to wherever.

Editing can be a pain and I understand that, being an Author, I've realized how rigorous the process of revision and editing can be. It's nice to have a second pair of eyes on your work or project.

Sometimes a writer's eyes can go blind from seeing common grammatical errors or plot holes. This is why I'm here, I think of myself as the Book/Project nurse, tending to your baby's needs and polishing it so that we both, at the end, can have something presentable.

Genre's I work with: Young Adult Romance, Paranormal and Fantasy,

Dystopian, Mystery/Thriller, and Queer Fiction.

I'm really interested in #OwnVoices and #Diversity themes.

Projects I accept: Scripts & Novels

Please check out what I have to offer below.

Developmental Editing

What is a Developmental Edit?

A developmental edit is an in depth and thorough edit of your manuscript. I'll be looking at plot holes, examining sentence structure and style, problematic characterization, scene and fact checking, word choice, as well as giving in line feedback and constructive criticism. This is a labor intensive process and it's a bit more expensive and extensive. Every single page can or could be modified, new things will be added, some parts will be advised to cut, and by the end of this process you'll have an industry standard manuscript that's been analyzed several different ways.

     Key points to take away...

  • Sentence Structure and Style

  • Characterization

  • Fact Checking

  • Feedback and Constructive Criticism

  • Modification

Basically, I'm very anal and will be analyzing everything and anything to do with the story. Are the characters worth it? Is the story believable? Are these sentences connecting together to make sense? Could this word/world be too sensitive for readers to enjoy? Are actions justified?

For inexperienced writers, honest and constructive feedback can be difficult. Trust me, I understand, I get it. Remember, I'm an Author as well, so I've been through the editing process. What needs to be taken away is the fact that this is a collaborative process and all writers aren't the same. What I'm here for is to give you advice and recommendations on what we both can do, as a team, to make this your best work possible. I want to see you and your story succeed.

I use Track Changes for majority of my edits and feedback on Microsoft Word.

Price Check

For Novel Dev Edits, industry price is .12 per word but I charge .04 per word. So if you have a 10,000 word project you need edited that will be a total of $400 or however (amount of words you want Dev Edited) X (.04) that's your price.

Sometimes, depending on the project, I will charge a solid flat fee. Please read Rules and Policies for more information on payment.

For Script Dev Edits, I charge $20 a page.

Rules and Policies

Payment

For payment I only accept, Venmo, Cash App, Paypal.

You will receive a FREE 3 page sample so you can see what it will be like. From there if you decide to work with me then I will ask for a DEPOSIT.

A DEPOSIT will be charged before I begin official editing.

After the first chapter has been completed with editing and you choose to stay with me, there will be NO REFUNDS and I will ask for the rest of the payment before I continue, finalizing my service for the word count.

Per Etiquette guidelines below, bad behavior half way through your project, and having to terminate you as a client, will result in NO REFUND.

If the first chapter isn't to your liking and we have tried to get things right together, and there's no eye to eye at anything. I will return your deposit. No questions asked. Meaning, that's your only chance to think about things and to change your mind, do it then.

     Key Points

  • Free 3 Page Sample - See if we're the right fit.

  • Accepts Service - Deposit due for the rest of the first chapter. If client wishes to continue, full payment due before Chapter 2 and for the remaining of word count bought.

Etiquette

No one likes a Negative Nancy. Sometimes people can't differentiate criticism from being rude. If I'm respectful I expect to be treated the same. I'm here to help you not attack you, your story, skills or characters. I will not tolerate inappropriate behavior, comments, attitudes and bad mouthing other editors or authors. You can not tell tone from text, however, if collaboration isn't happening, then both of our times are wasted, thus me terminating you as a client.

     Work I do not accept...

  • Rape/Violence

  • Domestic Abuse

  • Gore

  • Incest

  • LGBTQIA+ Hate or any Hate Speech

  • Racism

If the writer fails to admit any of this in their work there will be no REFUND and service will be refused.
